On Monday afternoon, Delaware transfer Justyn Mutts announced he would transfer to Virginia Tech. He chose the Hokies over Mississippi State and Houston. Mutts is immediately eligible.
Originally at High Point, Mutts made 18 starts as a freshman and averages 6 points and 4 rebounds per game, making him an Big South All-Freshman team member. He was a defensive star, averaging 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.
After Head Coach Scott Cherry parted ways with the school, Mutts moved on to Delaware. Due to transfer rules he was forced to sit out the 2018-19 season.
In one season for the Blue Hens, he started all but one game and had 11 double-doubles. Mutts was one of the best defensive players in the CAA, but still averaged double digit PPG & was named CAA Co-Player of the Week on December 2nd. Along with his personal accolades, he helped lead Delaware to 22 wins and a CAA Tournament semifinal appearance.
The 6’7 Forward ranked 129th in the country in DR% per KenPom. That was one of eight categories he ranked in the Top 500 of (%Min, eFG%, TS%, OR%, Blk%, Stl%, 2PT%).
