On Sunday afternoon, ETSU transfer and Winston-Salem native, Daivien Williamson, announced he would transfer to Wake Forest. The guard has two years of eligibility remaining and will join his head coach at ETSU, Steve Forbes, at Wake Forest. He still has a redshirt year remaining and will have to apply for a waiver.
In an interview with Stockrisers.com, Williamson said “I’ve already developed such a great relationship with Forbes and the rest of his staff… Staying at home and playing in the ACC, man is truly a dream come true.”
During Williamson’s freshman season of 2018-19, he started in 16 games and made the SoCon All-Freshman team. He scored 20+ points in three games, averaging 9.5 on the season. He also ranked 159th in ORtg% and 187th in FT% per Ken Pomeroy.
In the 2019-20 season, Williamson only started 14 games but shot a stellar 48.4% from the field and scored 10.4 PPG. He ranked 93rd in the nation in TS%.Williamson is the fourth transfer to join Steve Forbes at ETSU. He will also be the fourth point guard on the roster.
