Pitt, Clemson both add pieces

ACC teams continue to finalize rosters for 2019-20 season

As we move into the middle of June things are picking up a bit, transfers are finding new homes and late bloomers are collecting their final offers as college basketball on all levels finalizes their rosters to compete in the 2019-20 season.

Two more roster spots in the ACC were filled yesterday as Pittsburgh added JUCO guard Ryan Murphy of New Mexico JC while Clemson landed coveted Texas graduate transfer Tevin Mack.

Apparently Murphy committed to Pitt in early May, but re-released the information yesterday, which is when I caught it.

As a RS sophomore last season for New Mexico JC Murphy averaged 18.5 points in 13 games. He was originally committed to Washington State, but de-committed on April 11th. He garnered high major interest after coming back on the market, reportedly collecting offers from Nebraska, SMU and DePaul.

Meanwhile, news broke around 8:00 last night that Tevin Mack will be playing his final season at Clemson next year. The Tigers will be Mack’s the fourth program he has committed too, though he never played at VCU and followed Coach Shaka Smart to Texas.

The #53 recruit in the 2015 class, Mack has averaged 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds over his 82 game college career. He will immediately slot in to the role vacated by Marcquise Reed.

Clemson now has five transfers on their roster. Nick Honor (Fordham) and Khavon Moore (Texas Tech) will both seek hardship waivers, while Curran Scott (Tulsa) is a graduate transfer. They were also expecting to have Jonathan Baehre (UNC-Asheville) this season, but he suffered a torn ACL in late May and is out indefinitely.

If Clemson is able to get everyone eligible this is a team that could surprise some people.
