This is one of the more interesting recruitments on my radar. Anthony Walker, a 6’9 225 pound forward, has set a commitment date of Saturday October 20th according to Evan Daniels of 247sports.com
Walker is currently ranked as a top 150 recruit and the number 26 power forward in the 2019 class.
Walker released his final 8 in late August and then proceeded to set up his official visits. Illinois, Pitt, URI, Miami and VCU were the recipients of those dates. Safe to assume those are the final 5, correct?
Take note of Daniels’ tweet. Boston College is on the final list. Now, Brewster Academy is only two hours up 495 from Chestnut Hill so Walker has visited plenty, but it is difficult to find a player to have committed to a school he never OV’d. Michael Beasley did with K-State, but he OV’d after.
It is also worthy of note that Walker just visited Miami last weekend. He did not take a visit this weekend. He took a weekend off after the Illinois visit as well, but he didn’t commit then. For that reason, I think Illinois might be out as well. Leaving Miami and Pitt as the likely options.
Given the fact that he just visited Corral Gables and the winter is starting to come around in New England I don’t think it’s difficult to call this one. In my humble opinion Miami is about to add to its 2019 class and rebound pretty impressively from an empty 2018 cycle.
