According to a tweet sent out by 247sports recruiting guru Evan Daniels, Akok Akok has cut his list to five and has set official visits.
Syracuse will host on 10/20, while Pittsburgh will get the final crack at the 6’10 power forward on 10/23.
Akok, who after a tremendous summer, saw his stock rise exponentially and landed him in the top 25 in the most recent rankings. He is currently ranked as the #1 player in Connecticut.
Syracuse leads the Crystal Ball with all six selections. His shot blocking ability makes him a prime candidate to anchor Boeheim’s patented 2-3 zone. He also possesses a bit of touch, showing at times that he can extend out to the three point line.
He needs to hit the weight room, but would be a tremendous get for either ACC program.
Pitt continues to get in on these top recruits, but has yet to break through. The glaring lack of talented front court players on their roster has to make a player like Akok a priority for newly hired head coach Jeff Capel. Giving Capel the final visit has to feel good for Panthers fans, but Akok has to make it through the first four visits without committing first.
