Florida State makes its third (and final) appearance on the countdown today with #15, Terance Mann
I have described multiple players on this list as underrated, but Mann may be the most underrated player in the entire league. Since his arrival in 2015, he has seemingly always been behind someone, whether it be Malik Beasley, Dwayne Bacon, XRM or even Braian Angola. That is no longer the case, this is Terance Mann’s team.
As a junior, Mann once again improved his statistics across the board, averaging 12.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists. If I have a criticism of Mann it would be his shooting percentages (27% from deep, 61% from the line), but that is really just splitting hairs. He is a scoring wing who still manages to average more assists than turnovers. He was also even last season on assists + steals per game compared to fouls + turnovers per game at 3.5. Pretty solid for a kid who averages 30 minutes per game and a 20% usage rate. He also had a more combined defensive and offensive win shares (4.1) than Josh Okogie, Justin Bibbs and Cam Johnson.
While I certainly expect M.J. Walker (#17 on this list) to have a blow up season, I expect Mann to lead this Seminoles team. Given the departure of CJ Walker in the offseason, I also expect Mann to handle the ball more than usual. His usage rate is about to be up around 25-28%.
Mann’s points per game average has increased every season from 5.2 to 8.4 to 12.6 last year, look for that trend to continue as Mann helps Leonard Hamilton get his dance card punched for the third consecutive season.
