Another day, another player on the list. Number 19 on the hit list is Louisville’s Jordan Nwora.
I know. This is the first “speculative” entry on this list. So far it has been veterans and players we have seen a bunch of. So, do I have some ‘splainin to do? It’s quite simple really, I think Jordan Nwora is a really good basketball player and he is going to be the man on this Louisville team.
Think about how new Cardinal’s coach Chris Mack and how he has been successful recently. Trevon Blueitt. A 6’6 forward who excelled in the open court and could shoot it from deep. That is also how I would describe Nwora’s game.
In Jordan’s freshman campaign he made 25 triples and shot 44% from behind the arc.
Now that Deng Adel, Quentin Snider and Ray Spalding have all moved on, Nwora has a clear path to a ton of playing time and since those three players accounted for 49 points per game, which was 65% of Louisville’s offensive output.
In only 12 minutes per game last year Nwora was able to average 5.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, which when you put that into per 40 minutes equal 18.9 points and 7.4 rebounds. I don’t expect Nwora to play 40 minutes, I think 30 is within the realm of possibilities. Given the biggest jump usually occurs from freshman to sophomore years, my expectation is right around 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
He will have to cut down on the turnovers, but I think this young man will be a star in the ACC by this time next year.
